Weddings
Many couples find innovative ways to integrate charitable giving into their wedding. These are great tips for engaged couples or for rabbis and cantors who officiate weddings and counsel couples planning to get married.
The I Do Foundation (which is partners with JustGive.org) makes it easy to create a gift registry with major stores and website like Macy’s, JC Penney, Bloomingdales, Target, Crate and Barrel, Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn, REI and more. With each gift purchased through an I Do Foundation registry, a donation of 3% to 10% of the purchase price is donated to your charities of choice. These donations are made at no additional cost to the couple or their guests.
Beyond their gift registries, the I Do Foundation and JustGive.org have a slew of other ideas of how to integrate social and charitable causes into weddings. Some of the suggestions they offer include:
- Start a Charity Registry. Give guests the option to donate to Rabbis for Human Rights-North America or other favorite charities.
- Shop for Good. Raise up to 10% for Rabbis for Human Rights-North America or other charities with wedding purchases from the I Do Foundation’s partner stores—for honeymoon travel, rings, invitations, flowers, travel and more…
- Give Your Attendants the Gift of Charity: Charitable gift cards from JustGive are a great way to honor the special people in your life. It's simple—you make the donation and they select the charity. Buy a charitable gift card.
- Alternative Wedding Favors: Make a donation to Rabbis for Human Rights-North America or other favorite charities in honor of your guests in place of wedding favors.
- Fundraise through your vendors Create charitable competition among your vendors by requesting that they donate a percentage of their fee to your favorite charity.
You can find these and additional suggestions on the I Do Foundation’s website.
