RHR-NA Second North American Conference on Judaism and Human Rights, December 7 - 9

Please join us December 7 - 9 in Washington, D.C. at Congregation Adas Israel, for the Second North American Conference on Judaism and Human Rights. This conference will be the first of its kind to bring together rabbis, cantors, rabbinic and cantorial students, and Jews committed to the protection of human rights in North America from across North America to discuss key questions facing our community:

  • In what ways have Israel and the United States upheld human rights and in what ways have they fallen short?
  • How can we support the efforts of RHR and RHR-NA to promote human rights in North America and Israel?
  • How can the new Administration renew and strengthen America's committment to human rights?

At the conference there will be study sessions with leading teachers on Judaism and human rights; a plenary session on Israel at 60; trainings for rabbis and lay leaders about how to mobilize communities for action on issues of human rights; a panel of interfaith leaders discussing "The Abrahamic Faiths and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; sessions on U.S.-sponsored torture; workshops on a variety of issues facing the Jewish community today; and the Second Raphael Lemkin Human Rights Awards with a dinner and concert.

Registration fees for the conference are $350 for individuals whose travel expenses are less than $300, and $300 for individuals paying more than $300 for travel (take $50 off if you register by Septemeber 15); $180 for individuals with limited income (students, retirees, and others); $150 for one day only ($75 for individuals with limited income).
