2. Help build a network to mobilize Jewish commitment to human rights.

Kvod Habriot is a new, critical step for RHR-NA, bringing rabbis together with their congregants to be a larger and stronger force for human rights. Respect for each human being is the foundation of Jewish ethics, and this network will strengthen the ties of communities with a dedication to this principle.

What are the goals of Kvod Habriot? In the short term, we will be continuing our commitment to bring a strong Jewish voice to the movement to end US-sponsored torture. The voice of the religious community has the ability to make our politicians think about the moral implications of the stands that they take on torture.

In the long term, we aim to mobilize Jewish commitment to worldwide human rights through ongoing study and activism. Many Jews hold social justice and human rights to be key aspects of their Jewish identity. Kvod Habriot is the first interdenominational network aiming to bring all of these activists together in one network.

The more we build bridges between communities doing human rights work, the more we unite in common cause, the greater the impact we can have now and in the future. Kvod Habriot gives individuals and communities a chance to mobilize around issues together, share programs and ideas, and collaborate on outreach to engaged communities of other faiths to form strong partnerships, such as RHR-NA's current involvement in the National Religious Coalition Against Torture. Joining Kvod Habriot is the first step in engaging with this vibrant, broad community of Jews.
