A Land Twice Promised - Storytelling Performance by Noa Baum
Sunday, December 7 at Adas Israel Congregation, Washington, DC at 4:00 P.M.
Noa Baum takes us behind the rhetoric and headlines to hear the true stories of four women, 2 Israelis and 2 Palestinians.
In the process we experience the most precious ingredient for the resolution of any major conflict: compassion for the humans on each side.
Noa Baum is an Israeli who began a heartfelt dialogue with a Palestinian woman while living in the United States. In the performance Baum weaves together their memories and their mothers' stories. She creates a moving testimony illuminating the complex and contradictory history and emotions that surround Jerusalem for Israelis and Palestinians alike.
Each story gives a different personal perspective:
- A Palestinian living under Israeli occupation, as a university student and ten year old
- A nine year old Israeli’s experience of the 1967 war
- A young Palestinian mother’s memory of the same war
- A young Israeli student’s story of the 1948 war and the loss of her brother
