1. Rabbis for Human Rights – North America (RHR-NA) is an organization of rabbis dedicated to expanding support in North America for the mission and work of RHR in Israel, and to education and advocacy on human rights issues in North America. RHR-NA supports RHR - in Israel through fundraising, sponsoring trips by RHR speakers, developing educational resources, sending delegations to Israel in support of RHR's work, and partnering with RHR in efforts to change Israel policies that lead to human rights violations. In North America, RHR-NA launched Honor the Image of God Stop Torture Now A Jewish Campaign to End US-Sponsored Torture. In 2006, RHR-NA hosted the first North American Rabbinic Conference on Judaism and Human Rights.
   
   
2. Rabbis for Human Rights (RHR) is the only organization of rabbis in Israel dedicated to giving voice to the Jewish religious tradition of human rights. As a Zionist organization, RHR is committed to the physical security and moral vision of the State of Israel as reflected in Israel’s Declaration of Independence. Rabbis for Human Rights educates Israelis about Judaism and human rights, advocates for economic justice for all Israelis, and defends the dignity and human rights of Palestinians living under Israeli control.

Why should you become a Rabbinic Chaver?

RHR and RHR-NA are the only multi-denominational organizations of rabbis dedicated to the essential Torah value that each human being is created in the Image of God (Betzelem Elohim) and entitled to dignity (kevod habriot), justice (tzedek) and equality. As a rabbinic organization, rabbis are the core supporters of our work. Currently, there are hundreds of rabbis from all the movements who have made tzedakah contributions to us. RHR-NA is launching our Rabbinic Chaver campaign to enlist 1,000 rabbis who will make a contribution to RHR this year and, if possible, a three-year pledge to support the vision and work of RHR. We invite you to become one of these core supporters and help us sustain the sacred work of Rabbis for Human Rights in Israel and North America. Rabinnic Chaverim enable:

• RHR to work towards the fulfillment of the Zionist vision of a Jewish state that embodies the prophetic ideals of justice, freedom and equality.
• RHR-NA to support our colleagues in Israel and to protect human rights in North America.
• Enable RHR-NA to expand the visibility of the work of our colleagues in Israel and in the North American Jewish community.
• Support Honor the Image of God: Stop Torture Now, A Jewish Campaign to End U.S-Sponsored Torture, making it possible for RHR-NA to create rabbinic resources on Jewish values and torture.
• Assist RHR-NA in planning North American Rabbinic Conferences on Judaism and Human Rights.
• Help maintain RHR's unique education programs for Israeli soldiers and pre-military academy students.
• Sustain the RHR Human Rights Yeshivot, the only yeshivot dedicated to human rights where young Israelis of all political viewpoints, secular and religious, study the sacred traditions of human rights.
• Protect the rights of Palestinians by defending individuals whose homes are slated for demolition and uphold Israel's High Court decision (based on an appeal initiated by RHR) which guarantees peaceful access of Palestinians to their fields and groves.
• Support RHR's economic justice program helping the unemployed fight for unemployment rights and the right to dignified work at a living wage.
