Celebrate Human Rights Shabbat 2009: December 11-12! Sign up today!

K'vod Habriot logoWe are excited to announce that sign-up has begun for Human Rights Shabbat 2009. This year, Human Rights Shabbat falls during Hanukah, giving your community a wonderful opportunity to explore the connections between freedom and human rights. While last year's focus was on the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, this year will highlight one of the most alarming denials of basic human rights found today: slavery and human trafficking. Of course, congregations are also welcome to focus on human rights issues of interest to their particular community.

We understand that communities have busy calendars. The alternate weekend for Human Rights Shabbat is December 4-5th.

This year, you can expect:

•    A text study, article, and a curriculum about Judaism and slavery
•    Film resources on the fight against modern slavery
•    Articles and a curriculum about modern slavery, its roots in global poverty, and the Jewish response
•    Liturgical resources to create a human rights service in your community.

And much more!

Email RHR-NA to sign up for this year’s Human Rights Shabbat.
